Creativity and New Media

For this assignment, I choose to post a selfie of myself with some edited emoji on it. I personally feel it is pretty funny, give a thumb up for the person who created those photo editing that are easy to use. I used some stickers, filters, virtual makeup, and the layout functions to create the photo that I submitted. On the bottom, the photo says, “Meet your Better Self.” I look at the photo from time to time to remind myself to be a better person everyday.

Creativity

New media impacted on the new music. The musicians has combined different music in one to become a new song. Which impacted on economic, helping people gain money. However, those new combined songs have to deal with copyright, they have to lessen their incomes because they are not completely new. Second hand is still second hand stuff no matter how you edit it. Still, new song were pretty interest they can combine things you never thought of together to become one. Which shows people’s imagination on certain material. Creatives are endless, there will always be something new out there that light up your brain.

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Visual World is pretty interesting for me, if that really happened I can traveled around the world in my room. That help me save transportation fee, tickets, and hotel fees. It is convenient to have visual world, like what I said seeing all places in a reality way, plus communicate with different people from different place, to see how they interacts. We are not grounded to one place because of unsafety, or parents’ worries. However, the disadvantage is that visual world cannot mimic the fresh air. Well, of course they can mimic everything but they are all fake. Successfully communicate online doesn’t mean people can communicate well in real world.
One good thing about visual world is it help to build people’s creativity, what you think can come real in visual world, as long as you can think out of box. The visual world will be very interesting if all imaginations came true.

In the future, it help kids’ better understanding the world around them, by learning on visual world. Sometimes learning from a book will be one dimensional, but visual world can show different dimensions. Also, there’s will be no distance limit for friends.

Blog about Twitter

Comparing Twitter and Blackboard online discussion; I can see that Twitter has a word limitation which is 140characters. This is something bad about the Twitter, that we might not be wordy enough to express what we want to share with the class. Also, put all your thoughts as simple as possible. In another way, a good thing about the Twitter is that all Tweets were display, which means we don’t have to click into every single one of them to make comments. Another good thing is that we can post our photo on Twitter, which can help us better getting familiar with our classmates, and known who replied on your Tweet. Photo sometimes can help us better remember who it is.

A blackboard discussion doesn’t have any word limit you can write as many as you want to, but be sure to include a title. Here, we can write things as detail as possible. However, there’s something bad about the blackboard discussion is that you have you click into every article in order to read what that classmate wrote for the assignment. Also no photos but with their real name. It kind of hard for me to remember people’s name.

Lastly, in class discussion can be replied on time, can see the person that asks the question, or who has the most enthusiastic.

Blog: Social networking sites

To me there’s no big difference between the following four sites; Facebook, Twitter, Blog, and Weibo. You just post whatever you like and others makes comments about what you posted. This is my impressions those four sites. Facebook which I have first used, at the time I posted a lot of daily complaining about things around me. It can be a long complain or short ones. Also, found a lot of advertising which other people like about. Something good about Facebook’s advertising is that it can be posted to your timeline once you hits the like button. Thus, it can spread from your surroundings to other people’s surroundings, just by one click without transfer such as copy paste. Very convenient for corporations to advertising on Facebook.

Blog, just started using it this semester, not unknowing much about it. Usually people post long articles or professional things on blogs.

Twitter also a new beginner, feeling like there’s no difference between it and Facebook. But the article I just read said a lot of teenagers use Twitter for complaining. Also, they were usually using Facebook in the first place, but moved from Facebook to Twitter because a lot adult use it. Which they want to hide some secrets from those adults.

Weibo; foreign Facebook or Twitter, was displayed in another language. Posting daily events, and for advertising. Barely use it.

Blog v Wiki

Blog and Wiki is what people are currently mostly likely being using. We can find all information and comment about certain things we want to know. For blog, people can post whatever the blogger like even what they eat today as breakfast, and up to what they feel about government as long as it is legal. However, the blogger they can hide their face behind the screen, so no one knows who they are. Plus, they can comment whatever they like including verbal abuse on a certain post they don’t like.

Unlike blog, Wiki is more of sharing information by edited someone or bunch of unknown people. But there’s an internal wiki that can help employees to edit what’s upcoming events and things got to be prepared before meeting. Although, they can hide their face behind the screen, but once they post incorrect information the technic people can find their based on their IP. The new use of Wiki cannot be used widely, a mistake made by one person can influence all the other people that's using this.
