If I am hired by Baruch College I would like to suggest the
school to combine all the login account. There is just too many accounts used
for one college; sacc, writing center, library, regular used login account, and
so on. For each event you want to participate in Baruch there is a need of one
account, it is too much some of them were set up by different username and
password. It is easy to mess them up. Combining all account to one will help a
lot.
I often have the same issue, I forget the password. This was on of my idea on my "Advice" post. I think they can create something called Baruch Portal and here students/faculties can log in and access all necessary linked pages. Lets hope they implement our ideas in the near future.
ReplyDeleteI think they made a lot of progress already. Right now they have single sign-on for Blackboard, CUNYfirst, CUNYsmart, Degree Works and FACTS. Maybe they took your advice already. And yes, I totally agree that we all have too many passwords to remember and this is a step in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteI will also have one other suggestion: Multi-Factor Authentication. Using an app to generate a token (or sending a push notification to your phone) will greatly improve the security of these online services. Many institutions, including colleges, are using it and I think it will be beneficial if we implement that as well.
